Alicia McElhaney is a finance coach at Brooklyn Plans who is passionate about helping people feel in control of their money.
Born just outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Alicia attended the University of Maryland, where she
earned a degree in journalism, with a minor in French. She moved to Brooklyn in 2016 and
began her career as a finance journalist.
After experiencing the inequality that persists on Wall Street to this day, Alicia decided she
wanted to be a part of the solution. She began a newsletter about women and money called
She Spends, and began taking financial planning classes through New York University.
Alicia is now an investment advisor representative and a coach at Brooklyn Plans. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, reading fiction, and playing with her pet rabbit, Brooks.
